Ascot, town and racecourse, is located at the southern end of Windsor Great Park.

Architecturally, Ascot is a predominantly modern town dominated by the industries, shops, and services of nearby Windsor, except during June when it hosts the Royal Ascot race meeting on the racecourse on Ascot heath.

Royal Ascot Week, which is now over 5 days in June each year, is a great social and horse-racing occasion, attended by thousands of visitors, as well as by the British royal family, who arrive by carriage across Windsor Great Park. Read more here. See the Royal Ascot Menu here.

Royal Ascot is held every June over 5 days, with the new stand being a welcome addition. Read more here.

Ascot's history is very interesting, with the first race meeting held in 1711. Read more here.

There are championship golf courses at Sunningdale and Wentworth, as well as local courses - Mill Ride, Swinley and The Berkshire, to mention but a few. There is, of course, horse racing at Ascot and Windsor, with Polo at Smiths Lawn and The Royal Berkshire Polo Club.

The Ascot race course web site is here and you can read about the history of Ascot racing here. There was a complete rebuilding of the main stand and a new development at the race course, which was completed ready for Royal Ascot 2006.

The Ascot area has an excellent selection of state and private schools which makes the area especially popular with families. Read about local attractions here.
